I was out this week the day before the full moon to try and get some shots of the moonrise. I had used The Photographers Ephemeris to scout for possible locations and found an old schoolhouse that I thought I was going to able to get the moon rising over. But like most plans, it didn’t work out like I had in mind. When I got to the location there were too many trees around the schoolhouse and the hills around the area where too high. But this is the Flint Hills and there are plenty of great views around, so I ended up back near the Carnahan Creek area on Tuttle Creek Lake. The moon didn’t disappoint, turned out to be a great evening…I never get tired of photographing the moon.
