Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of year. I love the colors of fall and also the changing temperatures. Nothing beats a crisp fall morning and I was fortunate be out with my camera back in early November wandering around a nearby lake. The bright yellows we predominantly get in this area of northeast Kansas were just settling the trees. The skies were clear and I had fun photographing the sun shining through the leaves. The photo above with the picnic table is a favorite spot of mine and I’ve always thought it would be a good place to sit and read a book on a nice fall morning. I need to make that happen next fall.
The light coming in through the trees highlighted the leaves, but also created nice contrast with the tree trunks. I liked this view looking straight up through the trees. Another thing I would like to do is spend some time just laying down and enjoying the view like this. People often talk about the cycles of life and being in tune with Nature and the seasons. Maybe fall is a good time to start preparing for the slowness of winter and a call to relax and let go of the need to be busy all the time.
The photo above was another scene that I had fun photographing the sun shining through the tree in the center. Initially the strong shadows on the ground were what caught my attention, but in the end, I liked the photos I made here that featured the tree more. This would have been a good tree to just sit against and listen to the birds.
This was another tree that caught my attention. I’m not really sure what it was about the tree that caught my eye, but it was fun to spend some time photographing the sun shining around the trunk of this tree.
This last photo is a view looking slightly up and through a few trees that were really showing off their bright yellow colors. I liked how this photo turned out and the feeling that the trees were reaching towards the center of the frame. I’m writing this post on a bitter cold winter afternoon, but I’m already looking forward to wandering through this park again next fall. Hopefully I will remember to pay attention to the cycles of the world around me and be looking for opportunities to relax and prepare for winter and a period of rest and contentment. We will see if I can tune the world out and do that.
As always, thanks for visiting my tiny spec of the internet and I hope you enjoyed the photos. If you are feeling harried and hassled and exhausted and need a break, please take the time to find a nice spot to sit for awhile.
