This is a photograph of a trail in part of a wooded area at Bird Runner Refuge. The colors in the woods at Bird Runner were fantastic on my last visit there, especially the smaller trees and bushes. I’m not exactly sure why Fall seems to scream “go outside” so loud to me, but I’m doing my best to listen to that message this year. I love the big open prairie views of the Flint Hills around Manhattan, but it seems like right now I’m drawn more to the quiet wooded areas along the lakes and streams in the area. Fall just seems to be a good time to wander through the trees.
