I’ve had the chance recently to photograph a few areas in Central Kansas including another stop at Coronado Heights. On this particular evening storm clouds were moving through the area and provided some really dramatic skies to photograph along with some of the fall colors at the top of the hill. I love big wide open views like this. I grew up in Central Kansas and I’ve always loved being able to see for a long way off into the distance. It does a body good to get out into some open country like this.
Coronado Heights is an interesting place to stop and offers some great views of the surrounding area and sits near the boundary between two geographic regions of Kansas, the Smoky Hills and the Wellington-McPherson Lowlands. If you are driving the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway make sure you swing north of Lindsborg and check it out.
